Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao has praised Keerthy Suresh's performance in her latest Telugu film, Uppu Kappurambu, calling it "so much fun". The movie, directed by Ani I.V. Sasi, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 4, 2025, and has been generating buzz for its quirky storyline and social satire.

Uppu Kappurambu is set in the 1990s in the fictional village of Chitti Jayapuram and revolves around Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh), a newly appointed village head who faces the unusual challenge of a shortage of burial plots. She teams up with Chinna (Suhas), a graveyard caretaker, to tackle this bizarre crisis, promising a fresh and witty take on social issues. The film is a political satire that subtly addresses social issues, with excellent characters and authentic world-building.

The trailer for Uppu Kappurambu has been well-received, with industry folks loving its humor and satire. Varun Dhawan also expressed his appreciation for the film, calling it his "most favorite film" of Suresh.

Uppu Kappurambu is Keerthy Suresh's return to OTT platforms after her Bollywood debut movie Baby John. It is her second direct OTT release on Prime Video after Penguin. The film is available in Telugu with dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada, and also includes subtitles in 12 languages. The cast also features Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari.

Vasanth Maringanti is the writer behind Uppu Kappurambu. Through his world-building, he narrates the story of Chitti Jayapuram with authenticity. KV Guhan's cinematography captures the tribal locales, while Ajaneesh Loknath's background score sets the atmosphere.

Some critics have drawn comparisons between Uppu Kappurambu and other political satires such as Yogi Babu's Mandela and Rajkummar Rao's Newton. The film has been lauded for its unique characters and subtle handling of social issues. Suhas, who plays the male lead, Chinna, has also received praise for his portrayal of a jovial gravedigger.

Uppu Kappurambu presents a unique village story with a message, employing humor to show how ordinary people handle serious issues. Keerthy Suresh portrays a happy village girl, while Suhas takes on the role of the hero.
