Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement with Brentford to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo for a fee of £65 million plus £6 million in add-ons, totaling £71 million. This follows a previous bid of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons that was rejected weeks earlier.

Mbeumo has been a long-term target for Manchester United, with the club identifying him as a good fit for Ruben Amorim's system. There is a feeling within Brentford that Mbeumo has earned the opportunity to move to a bigger club. Mbeumo is keen on the move to Old Trafford.

The Cameroon international enjoyed a productive 2024-25 season, scoring 20 Premier League goals in 38 appearances. This output has attracted the attention of other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

United are hopeful of finalizing the deal in time for Mbeumo to join their pre-season tour in the United States, which begins next Tuesday. Mbeumo is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days.

The potential arrival of Mbeumo is seen as a significant boost to Manchester United's attacking options. The club has already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million. With Marcus Rashford potentially seeking a move to Barcelona and uncertainty surrounding the futures of Jadon Sancho and Antony, Mbeumo's addition would provide much-needed reinforcement.

However, the recent appointment of Keith Andrews as Brentford's new manager has complicated the deal. Andrews is thought to be keen on keeping his best players, but it appears Brentford have accepted that Mbeumo wants to leave.

Manchester United have been linked with several other strikers, including Hugo Ekitike. United are also reportedly keeping tabs on Antony, with RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton, and Newcastle all interested in the winger.
