Union Home Minister Amit Shah has lauded the successful and peaceful completion of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025, in which over 4.14 lakh devotees participated. Shah congratulated the security forces, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, the Jammu & Kashmir administration, and volunteer organizations for their tireless efforts in ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
Shah conveyed his appreciation via a post on X, describing the Yatra as a symbol of India's unbroken tradition and profound faith. He extended heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in facilitating the annual pilgrimage. Shah also invoked blessings of Baba Barfani on everyone.
Prior to the commencement of the Yatra, Shah had chaired a review meeting to evaluate security arrangements and preparedness. He directed security agencies to maintain utmost vigilance and ensure the Yatra's peaceful completion. He also stressed that the central government and the Jammu and Kashmir administration would provide all necessary facilities to the pilgrims.
The Amarnath Yatra 2025 commenced on July 3 and concluded on August 9. To ensure the security of the pilgrimage, the central government authorized the deployment of 581 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), comprising approximately 42,000 personnel. 424 of these companies were deployed to the Union Territory, while the remaining forces were positioned to secure the pilgrimage route and other sensitive areas.
Earlier this year, Shah visited Jammu and Kashmir to review security measures and meet with residents affected by Pakistani shelling. During his visit, he also met with BSF personnel and visited religious sites in the Poonch district.
