Deepika Padukone's recent decision to exit Sandeep Reddy Vanga's "Spirit" due to disagreements over working hours has ignited a significant debate about work-life balance in Bollywood. While that project is now behind her, reports have emerged that Padukone is set to star in an upcoming pan-Indian film, tentatively titled "AA22xA6," alongside Allu Arjun, directed by Atlee.

Sources indicate that Padukone has committed to a 100-day shooting schedule for this project, which is slated to commence in November 2025. This commitment follows closely on the heels of her departure from "Spirit," where she reportedly requested a capped 8-hour shooting day. Her exit from "Spirit" has spurred considerable discussion within the film industry regarding fair working hours, with Padukone being a long-time advocate for better treatment for crew members and emphasizing the importance of work-life balance for mental health. She believes that fixed hours and fair overtime compensation boost efficiency and equity.

"AA22xA6" is described as one of Indian cinema's most ambitious projects, exploring a parallel universe. Allu Arjun will reportedly play triple roles in varied avatars, and Padukone is expected to portray a warrior-like character. The team has reportedly designed a special look for her, including unique weapons, and styling. The shooting for "AA22xA6" is expected to continue until September 2026, with a planned release in the second half of 2027. This project marks Padukone's second collaboration with director Atlee, following their work together in "Jawan". In addition to "AA22xA6," Padukone is also scheduled to begin filming for "King" with Shah Rukh Khan in October. These two projects will be her first shoots after becoming a mother, and she will be balancing her schedule between them from late 2026 onwards.
