Following the recent loss of his grandmother, Allu Arjun has reportedly returned to the sets of his highly anticipated film, tentatively titled "AA22" or "AA22 x A6". Sources indicate that the actor is currently filming a song sequence for the movie.

The passing of Allu Arjun's grandmother, Allu Kanaka Ratnamamma, at the age of 94, was reported on August 30, 2025. Many members of the Telugu film industry, including close friend Ram Charan, cancelled their schedules to pay their respects.

"AA22," directed by Atlee, is generating considerable buzz and is being planned for a summer 2027 release. The film is touted as a high-budget, pan-Indian project with potential for global reach. Reportedly, the production team is discussing a co-production deal with a major Hollywood studio and is collaborating with a U.S.-based agency for global marketing.

Allu Arjun is expected to portray four distinct characters in the film, including a grandfather, father, and two sons. The cast includes Deepika Padukone, who has reportedly dedicated 100 days to the project, as well as Janhvi Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Mrunal Thakur. There are also rumors that Ramya Krishnan may join the cast.

The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. The music will be handled by Sai Abhyankkar.

"AA22" is described as an epic action entertainer with a universal theme. Reports suggest the film will feature high-octane action sequences and collaboration with top Hollywood VFX studios, including Lola VFX and Fractured FX, who have worked on major Hollywood films like "Spider-Man" and "Avengers". The film's VFX budget is estimated to be around ₹250 crore.

While earlier reports hinted at the film drawing inspiration from the Mahabharata, more recent information describes it as a sci-fi action thriller. Allu Arjun's dance number in the film is said to be outstanding.

The release date for "AA22" is currently projected for 2026 or early summer 2027.
