The suspect, identified as Mohammad Taha Ansari alias Sonu, is a driver by profession. Preliminary investigations suggest that the gruesome act was a result of frequent quarrels between the couple, fueled by the wife's suspicion of her husband having an extramarital affair. The couple had been married for two years and had a one-year-old son. The police were able to solve the case and make the arrest within three days of the discovery of the severed head.

In another instance, the Mumbai police discovered the severed head of a 23-year-old woman, Priyanka Gurav, who was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws just four days after her marriage. The Rabale police found her beheaded body in a nullah in the industrial area. The victim's siblings identified the body from her clothes and a Ganpati tattoo.

These are not isolated incidents. In Virar, a woman's severed head was found inside a traveling bag, which led to the arrest of her husband. The police investigation revealed that the murder had occurred earlier that year, on January 8, when the accused strangled his wife to death following a domestic dispute. To cover up the crime, he disposed of her body, but the severed head was later recovered.

In response to these disturbing trends, law enforcement agencies are taking swift action to investigate and prosecute those responsible.
