Alia Bhatt has recently shared insights into raising her daughter, Raha, with her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, amidst their demanding careers. The couple welcomed Raha in November 2022 and have since been navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood while balancing their professional commitments.
Bhatt expressed that she and Ranbir decided early on that one of them should always be available for Raha. She acknowledged her privileged position, which allows her to afford help when needed, but emphasized that they actively split parenting responsibilities. "My husband (Ranbir) and I, very early on, decided that either of us should be there, available for Raha at all times," Alia stated. To manage this, they coordinate their schedules so that if one is traveling, the other is at home with Raha. In cases where their schedules clash, they rely on grandparents to step in and help.
Despite having a strong support system, Alia admitted that balancing work and motherhood is a constant challenge. She confessed to experiencing "mom's guilt," a common feeling among working mothers. "To be honest with you, the balance is never going to be easy," she said. She also shared that she constantly worries about making the right decisions for Raha. "But, as a parent, as a mother, you are just always you are always worried and nervous whether you are making the right decision or not," Alia explained. "I think the day I became a mother I opened up my life to worrying non-stop, so I am always worrying and I am just comfortable with worrying".
Alia also opened up about Ranbir's involvement as a father, describing him as "amazing". She highlighted his creative approach to entertaining Raha and noted the special friendship they share. "He is very creative when it comes to entertaining her, and she entertains him as well. They have a very special friendship," Alia said. She also mentioned that Ranbir had always dreamed of being a "girl dad". According to Alia, since Raha's arrival, Ranbir's demeanor has evolved, and he exudes a sense of fullness. "When he looks at Raha, there's like stars in his eyes," she shared.
The actress has also shared some of their routines with Raha, explaining that either she or Ranbir reads to Raha every night before bed. She mentioned that Raha loves books and even hugs them to sleep. Alia recently dedicated her first children's picture book, "Ed finds a Home," to Raha, who she says inspires her. "She will always be a source of inspiration to me, which is why I've also dedicated this book to her. And everything I do in life will always have a hint of her in me," Alia stated.
In an interview with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia shared some fun anecdotes about their parenting dynamic. She mentioned that Ranbir is super creative when it comes to playtime with Raha, while she focuses more on the care aspects, like managing her schedule and meals. Alia jokingly recounted a story where Raha declared Ranbir "fun" and her "little fun".
