The children of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and the late businessman Sunjay Kapur, Samaira and Kiaan, have initiated legal proceedings in the Delhi High Court to claim their share of their father's estate, estimated to be worth ₹30,000 crore. The siblings are contesting the validity of a will presented by their stepmother, Priya Kapur, Sunjay Kapur's third wife, alleging it is forged and that she is attempting to seize complete control of the assets.

Sunjay Kapur, the chairman of Sona Comstar, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2025, in the United Kingdom, reportedly due to heart disease. His death has triggered a succession crisis within the prominent business family.

Represented by their mother, Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan have filed a civil suit asserting their rights as Class I legal heirs under succession laws. They are seeking a partition of their father's assets, each demanding a one-fifth share of his personal estate. The suit also requests the court to freeze all of Sunjay Kapur's personal assets, including movable and immovable properties and bank accounts, until the matter is resolved, preventing any potential transfer or sale.

The children's petition challenges the authenticity of the will, which allegedly bequeaths Sunjay Kapur's entire personal estate to Priya Kapur. They claim the will, dated March 21, 2025, is neither valid nor genuine, alleging it was deliberately suppressed by Priya Kapur and her associates, Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, for over seven weeks before being revealed at a family meeting on July 30, 2025. The children state that they have not been shown the original will, nor have they been provided with a copy.

The lawsuit names Priya Kapur, her minor son Azarius, Sunjay's mother Rani Kapur, and the purported executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah, as defendants. The plea alleges that Priya Kapur's actions demonstrate an attempt to "usurp full control" over her late husband's estate, excluding other legal heirs.

Samaira and Kiaan maintain they shared a close relationship with their father, who had assured them of their financial security. They claim Sunjay had initiated ventures in their names, acquired assets for their benefit, and named them as beneficiaries.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married from 2003 to 2016 and divorced with mutual consent, with Karisma retaining custody of their children. According to reports, Karisma Kapoor is not claiming any share in the will.

The court is now tasked with examining the validity of the alleged will and determining whether Karisma Kapoor's children can be formally recognized as legal heirs. The plaintiffs are pressing for interim relief to freeze the assets while the matter is under consideration. The outcome of this case will have significant implications for one of India's most prominent business families and will likely involve a complex interplay of Bollywood and high-stakes inheritance law.
