A shocking incident in Dallas, Texas, has resulted in the brutal beheading of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian man from Karnataka. The horrific crime occurred on Wednesday morning at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard, where Nagamallaiah worked as a manager. The perpetrator, identified as 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a Cuban national and Nagamallaiah's co-worker, has been arrested and charged with capital murder.

The Dallas Police Department reported that the gruesome attack stemmed from a workplace dispute. An argument arose when Nagamallaiah asked Cobos-Martinez not to use a broken washing machine and then requested another employee to translate his instructions, which reportedly enraged Cobos-Martinez. Surveillance footage captured Cobos-Martinez retrieving a machete and chasing Nagamallaiah. Nagamallaiah fled towards the motel office, seeking refuge with his wife and 18-year-old son, who were present. Tragically, Cobos-Martinez caught up to Nagamallaiah and carried out the assault in front of his family.

Witnesses, including Nagamallaiah's wife and son, watched helplessly as Cobos-Martinez beheaded him. According to reports, Cobos-Martinez then kicked Nagamallaiah's severed head into the parking lot before placing it in a dumpster. Police apprehended Cobos-Martinez at the scene, where he was found with a blood-soaked T-shirt, the machete, Nagamallaiah's phone, and a key card. During interrogation, Cobos-Martinez admitted to the killing.

The incident has sparked outrage and grief within the Indian community and beyond. The Consulate General of India in Houston has expressed condolences and is providing assistance to Nagamallaiah's family. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family during this difficult time.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez has a prior criminal history, including arrests for auto theft and assault in Houston. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) confirmed that Cobos-Martinez had been released from custody earlier in the year, despite a removal order, due to a lack of deportation flights to Cuba. ICE has described the murder as "unthinkable".

Chandra Nagamallaiah, known as Bob to friends and family, is being remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and kind soul. His sudden and tragic death has left his loved ones and the community in deep mourning. The Indian High Commission in Houston is in contact with the family and offering all possible assistance.

The investigation is ongoing, and Cobos-Martinez is currently in custody at the Dallas County Jail on an immigration hold. The horrific nature of the crime, witnessed by the victim's family, has deeply shaken the community and raised questions about the safety of immigrant workers.
