Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emerged as the top-performing chief minister in disaster-affected states, according to a recent survey conducted by the Times Group. The Navbharat Times online poll revealed that Dhami secured 79% of the votes, surpassing other prominent leaders such as Omar Abdullah, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and Bhagwant Mann.

The survey, which specifically focused on evaluating the performance of chief ministers in states grappling with natural disasters, highlighted Dhami's effective leadership and the impact of his administration's relief measures. In August 2025, he conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Uttarkashi following a devastating cloudburst. During his visit, he assessed the damage caused by overflowing rivers, landslides, and washed-away roads. Furthermore, he has consistently visited disaster-hit areas, meeting with locals, assuring them of support, and reviewing relief and rescue operations on the ground.

The Uttarakhand government has also been actively involved in evacuating stranded individuals from disaster-affected regions. In one instance, approximately 274 people, including tourists from various states, were safely evacuated from Gangotri. These evacuees received medical check-ups, and efforts were made to transport them to safer locations.

In light of the frequent natural disasters in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Dhami has emphasized the importance of conducting detailed reviews of disaster-related damages. These reviews aim to inform future strategies and policy decisions, enabling the state government to respond more effectively to such crises. Dhami has also stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned departments to enhance the effectiveness of relief operations in disaster-hit areas.
