Varun Dhawan's Heartwarming Durga Ashtami: Sharing Festive Joy and a Delicious Meal with Children

On the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami, actor Varun Dhawan celebrated with children, sharing a heartwarming glimpse of the festivities on social media. The actor, currently immersed in promoting his upcoming film "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari," took time out to perform Kanjak Puja at his home.

Varun shared photos on Instagram, capturing the essence of the celebrations. The images show him sitting on the floor, surrounded by five girls and one boy. In one of the photos, Varun is seen posing with the children after the Kanjak Puja. Another captures him enjoying the traditional halwa, chana, and puri prasad with them. "Happy Durga Ashtami #bestmeal," he wrote in the caption, expressing his joy and contentment.

The "best meal" for Varun consisted of puri chhole, a traditional dish often served as prasad during Durga Ashtami. He seemed to relish the simple yet fulfilling meal in the company of the children, highlighting the spirit of the festival.

While many lauded Varun's gesture, some social media users pointed out that the children were served food on paper plates and plastic glasses, while he himself used a steel plate. Some questioned the difference in the serving ware. However, many fans quickly came to Varun's defense, explaining that disposable plates are often used for convenience, especially when serving children. Some fans also defended the actor, emphasizing that the warmth and joy of sharing the meal with the children mattered more than the plates they ate from. One fan noted that using disposable plates is common during such gatherings and doesn't necessarily indicate any discrimination.

Durga Ashtami falls on the second last day of Navratri. Varun's celebration of Durga Ashtami reflects the traditions observed by many across the country during this auspicious time.

On the work front, Varun is gearing up for the release of "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari", a romantic comedy directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film, also starring Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul, is set to release in theaters on Dussehra, October 2, 2025. The film is set against the backdrop of a grand Indian wedding and promises to be a family entertainer. The film has received a U/A certificate from the CBFC after some cuts.
