Karisma Kapoor's kids' lawyer labels Priya Sachdeva a 'Cinderella Stepmom' in apparent greed dispute.

The battle over the late businessman Sunjay Kapur's ₹30,000 crore estate has intensified, with accusations flying between his former wife, actress Karisma Kapoor, and his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur. The dispute, now in the Delhi High Court, centers on the validity of Sunjay Kapur's will and the inheritance rights of his children, Samaira and Kiaan, from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor.

The lawyer representing Karisma Kapoor's children has strongly refuted claims that they have already been allotted ₹1900 crore, arguing that they are entitled to a fair share of the ₹30,000 crore estate. This comes in response to Priya Sachdev's assertions that Karisma's children are already trust beneficiaries and have received a substantial sum. Karisma Kapoor maintains she is not fighting for herself, but to secure her children's rightful inheritance.

Adding fuel to the fire, Mandhira Kapur Smith, Sunjay Kapur's sister, has alleged that Priya Sachdev interfered in Sunjay's marriage to Karisma. Speaking to journalist Vickey Lalwani, Mandhira claimed Priya would frequently message Sunjay while he was still married to Karisma, suggesting that Priya played a role in the breakdown of their marriage. Mandhira stated that the family was in talks to resolve the issues between Karisma and Sunjay when Priya allegedly disrupted their efforts.

During a recent hearing, Priya Sachdev's lawyer, Rajiv Nayyar, reportedly attacked Karisma, stating that Sunjay had left her many years ago. He further implied Karisma was absent from Sunjay's life for 15 years, questioning her sudden appearance after his death. Nayyar also highlighted Priya's position as Sunjay's legal wife and mother to his young child, Azarias. Justice Jyoti Singh, however, questioned Priya's hesitation in sharing the will with Karisma's children.

The legal proceedings have been marked by heated exchanges between the counsels. In one instance, a video surfaced of Priya's counsel, Rajiv Nayar, and Karisma's children's counsel, Mahesh Jethmalani, engaging in a shouting match in the Delhi High Court. Jethmalani retorted, "Don't shout at me. Have some courtesy to the council. If you shout, you will get paid back in coin".

Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor married in 2003 and divorced in 2016, after a prolonged and acrimonious legal battle. The divorce was finalized in 2017, with Karisma receiving custody of their two children and Sunjay granted visitation rights. Sunjay Kapur married Priya Sachdev in 2017 and remained married until his death in June 2025.

The children have alleged that Priya forged Sunjay's will to exclude them from the inheritance, a claim Priya's legal team denies. The court has directed Priya Sachdev to file a comprehensive list of Sunjay Kapur's movable and immovable assets. The next hearing is scheduled for October 9.
