Leandro Trossard's first Premier League goal of the season secured a crucial 1-0 victory for Arsenal against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, propelling the Gunners back to the top of the table. After Manchester City temporarily claimed the top spot with a 2-0 win over Everton, Arsenal responded emphatically, moving three points clear.

The match was a hard-fought contest, with Fulham proving to be a challenging opponent. Arsenal had the ball in the net in the 18th minute through Riccardo Calafiori, but it was ruled out for offside. Fulham also had opportunities in the first half, with Harry Wilson firing narrowly wide and Josh King forcing a save from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

Arsenal's persistence eventually paid off in the 58th minute when a well-worked corner routine led to the decisive goal. Bukayo Saka's inviting corner was flicked on by Gabriel Magalhaes, and Trossard was on hand to convert from close range. The goal was Trossard's first in the Premier League this season and Arsenal's 37th from a corner since the start of the 2023/24 season. Trossard became the tenth different Arsenal player to score in the Premier League this season.

Shortly after the goal, Arsenal thought they had won a penalty when Saka went down under a challenge from Kevin inside the box. However, the decision was overturned after a VAR review. Despite the setback, Arsenal maintained their lead and secured the victory. Bernd Leno, the Fulham goalkeeper and former Arsenal player, made a smart save to deny Gyokeres late in the game.

Arsenal's win was built on a solid defensive performance, their eighth clean sheet of the season in all competitions. They have not faced a shot on target in consecutive Premier League games for the first time since November 2003/04, their last title-winning season.

Fulham manager Marco Silva acknowledged Arsenal's quality, stating, "We knew it was not going to be easy, a tough team to play against". Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his team's maturity in a tough environment.

With this win, Arsenal sits atop the Premier League table with 19 points, followed by Manchester City with 16 points and Liverpool with 15. Fulham, after their third successive defeat, are currently 14th in the league standings.
