Srinagar, Nov 12 - Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has asserted that Pakistan and its sponsored terror groups are actively working to undermine the progress and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the valedictory session of the Foundation Day celebrations at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Awantipura, Kashmir, Sinha highlighted that terrorism has been the biggest enemy of the region's youth for over three decades, destroying their dreams and aspirations.

Sinha expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the recent car bombing near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10. He stated that terrorism is the single greatest threat to peace and development, weakening brotherhood and unity among the public. "It not only spreads hatred and violence but also weakens the brotherhood and unity among the public," he added.

LG Sinha emphasized the targeted nature of these threats, particularly as the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are beginning to fulfill their aspirations. "Today, as our youth are finally fulfilling their aspirations, our neighboring country and its supported terror elements cannot tolerate it. Their objective is to kill your dreams through terror, both in J&K and across the country,” he said. He reiterated that those trying to shatter the dreams of the youth would be dealt with strictly.

"Our neighboring country and the terrorist elements it stations here are attempting to disrupt this progress. We must remain vigilant against this ecosystem and work collectively to foil their efforts,” Sinha asserted. He called upon citizens to assist security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and "unsocial elements".

LG Sinha highlighted the significant peace achieved in Jammu & Kashmir in the last five to six years, noting an increase in the number of peace stakeholders in the region. He underscored that Jammu and Kashmir has forged a new destiny, a new identity, and woven new dreams, which must be protected at all costs.

In October, Sinha described Pakistan as a "breeding ground for terrorism," pledging to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory and ensure justice for victims' families. He met with families of terror victims in Kupwara district, close to the Line of Control (LoC), assuring them of the administration's support. He noted that these families had suffered systemic barriers that stifled their progress and were denied their rights and access to resources, stating that these obstacles have now been removed to ensure justice and dignity.

In light of increased terror attacks, particularly in the Jammu region, Sinha stated in August 2024 that Pakistan was making desperate attempts to revive militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, pushing in foreign terrorists to create instability. He assured the public that the government has given a free hand to the J&K police and other security forces to crush terror.

Earlier this year, in June 2025, LG Sinha dismissed three government employees, including a police constable, for allegedly working for terrorist groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul-Mujahideen. This action followed a terrorist attack in Pahalgam and a subsequent military confrontation between India and Pakistan.
