New Delhi, November 13, 2025 – The Union government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has announced its decision to establish 100 new Sainik Schools across the country through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This initiative aims to expand access to quality education and provide more opportunities for students to join the armed forces.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the announcement on Thursday via video conference at the inauguration of Shri Motibhai R Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School (MRCSSS) and Sagar Organic Plant. He stated that these new Sainik Schools will pave the way for children from various districts to serve the nation through the armed forces.
The Shri Motibhai R Chaudhary Sagar Sainik School (MRCSSS), inaugurated during the announcement, was constructed at a cost of Rs 50 crore and boasts modern facilities, including smart classrooms, hostels, a library, and a canteen. Shah expressed confidence that MRCSSS will become a symbol of pride for Mehsana.
The PPP model allows private educational institutions to collaborate with the government in establishing and running Sainik Schools. This collaboration is expected to bring better facilities and resources while maintaining the core values and structure of traditional Sainik Schools. The Ministry of Defence has already approved 45 new Sainik Schools under the PPP model.
The initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the education sector and fostering a sense of national pride among the youth. These schools will focus on providing a balanced foundation of academic learning and military discipline, aligning with national defense training goals. The curriculum will aim to provide a 'CBSE Plus' type of educational environment.
These schools will be affiliated to the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defence, combining academic rigor with discipline and value-based education to instill pride in the nation's culture and heritage. The new Sainik Schools will also have the option to admit day scholars, allowing them to participate in full-day academic and extracurricular activities. Teachers in these schools will receive training under the Sainik Schools Society.
In a related development, India's first PPP-model Sainik School is set to open in Nawabganj, Uttar Pradesh, and is scheduled to begin operations in the 2026-27 academic session. The school, named Adhya Sainik International School, has been officially approved by the Ministry of Defence and will follow the core structure of traditional Sainik Schools. Admissions are scheduled to begin in January 2026 for classes 6 to 9, with 60% of seats filled through the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) and 40% through a management quota.
The government's initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools through the PPP model is expected to significantly boost educational opportunities and contribute to nation-building by nurturing future leaders and encouraging youth to join the armed forces.
