On Rohini Acharya’s Emotional ‘Daughter’ Remark, Chirag Paswan Echoes ‘Rights’ Assertion

In the wake of Rohini Acharya's recent emotional statements regarding her relationship with her family, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan has voiced his support for a daughter's rights, while refraining from direct commentary on the specifics of Acharya's allegations. The political atmosphere in Bihar has become charged following Acharya's public accusations against her family members and her subsequent announcement of leaving politics.

Paswan expressed empathy for the situation, drawing from his own experiences with family crises. He emphasized that women should not feel that their parental home is no longer theirs after marriage, denouncing such thinking as orthodox. "I do not believe that after marriage, the in-laws' home is the only home for a daughter. I do not support this orthodox thinking,” he stated, understanding the pain in Rohini's words.

Acharya's emotional outburst included allegations of humiliation, abuse, and threats, which she conveyed in a post on social media platform X. She recounted an incident where she was allegedly threatened and humiliated, leading her to leave her parental home to protect her self-respect. Acharya also pointed fingers at Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, Rachel Yadav, and Rameez for her ordeal, while stating that her parents and sisters have been supportive.

Paswan acknowledged that political differences exist, but he has always considered Lalu Prasad Yadav's family as his own. He urged the Yadav family to resolve their internal disputes swiftly. "I will not comment on this because I know what kind of mental pressure one goes through when a family is going through such difficult times. I have gone through this phase," Paswan said.

The controversy arose after the Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) poor performance in the recent Assembly elections, where it secured only 25 seats out of 243. This political setback seems to have exacerbated the tensions within the family, leading to Acharya's public allegations and decision to quit politics.

Chirag Paswan's measured response seeks to navigate the delicate situation by acknowledging Acharya's sentiments without directly engaging in the family's internal conflict. He has called for a swift resolution, highlighting the importance of family relationships despite political differences.
