Siddaramaiah Shuts Down Karnataka CM Change Rumors, Blames Media for Spreading 'November Revolution' Speculation

Bangalore, November 20, 2025 – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has firmly dismissed recent speculation regarding a potential change in leadership within the state government, labeling it a "media creation". The Chief Minister's strong denial comes amidst persistent rumors of a possible power-sharing agreement with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, with some suggesting a change in guard later this year.

"There is no November Revolution happening here," Siddaramaiah stated emphatically during a press conference held earlier today. "These are all baseless rumors fueled by media speculation. I am here to serve the full five-year term, and there is no question of stepping down."

The rumors gained traction in recent weeks, with some political analysts suggesting that the Congress party might be considering a leadership change to accommodate D.K. Shivakumar, who is also seen as a strong contender for the Chief Minister's post. Some reports even indicated that a section of MLAs were pushing for Shivakumar to take over. However, Siddaramaiah has consistently refuted these claims, asserting that the party high command has not asked him to step down.

"The high command has placed their trust in me to lead the state, and I am committed to fulfilling that responsibility," Siddaramaiah reiterated. "We are working together as a united team to deliver on our promises to the people of Karnataka."

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has also publicly supported Siddaramaiah, stating that there is no discussion on leadership change within the party. "Siddaramaiah is our Chief Minister, and we are all working under his leadership," Shivakumar said earlier this year. "Our focus is on strengthening the government and ensuring the welfare of the people."

Siddaramaiah also addressed reports that Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala was holding one-on-one meetings with MLAs, clarifying that Surjewala himself stated that there was no discussion on leadership. He further added that no meetings had been scheduled with senior party leaders Rahul Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge regarding this matter.

The Chief Minister's strong rebuttal aims to put an end to the ongoing speculation and reassure the public of the government's stability. He also responded to claims made by BJP and JD(S) leaders about his replacement, questioning their authority on the matter. "Are they our high command?" he retorted, dismissing their statements.

When questioned about the alleged 50:50 power-sharing formula, Siddaramaiah stated that he had answered similar questions multiple times already. Regarding the possibility of leading the Congress in the 2028 Assembly polls, he said that the high command would make the decision, as they did in the 2023 elections.

With Siddaramaiah firmly at the helm and Shivakumar's public support, the Karnataka government appears determined to dispel any notions of internal discord and focus on governance. The Chief Minister concluded by reasserting his position: "I am the sitting Chief Minister. There is no vacancy. D.K. Shivakumar himself has confirmed this".
