GameChange Solar to Build India Plant, Targeting Revenue Growth: A Boost for Indian Solar Manufacturing.

GameChange Solar, a U.S.-based manufacturer of solar trackers and transformers, is significantly expanding its presence in India with the establishment of a new manufacturing plant. This strategic move aims to leverage India's growing solar market and position the country as a key supply hub for its global operations.

The company is setting up its second manufacturing facility to expand its capacity to 13 GW. GameChange Solar already has a greenfield, medium-voltage transformer manufacturing plant in Taloja, Maharashtra, with a production capacity of 1,800-2,000 units annually, which, according to the company's Executive Chairman and founder Andrew Worden, is "by far the largest in the country for that category". Once all facilities are operational, the company expects its transformer capacity to increase sixfold.

GameChange Solar entered the Indian market five years ago, and it has rapidly become one of the company's most important markets. Vikas Bansal, President - International at GameChange Solar, stated that India continues to be one of the most exciting and dynamic solar markets globally. He added that the company's strong performance in India reflects the valued relationships they have built with their customers and the reliability of their Genius Tracker systems.

The company's expansion in India is driven by the country's ambitious renewable energy goals. The Indian government is targeting at least 500 GW of non-fossil-fuel energy capacity and aims to meet 50% of its cumulative electric power capacity from renewable sources by 2030. GameChange Solar's expansion aligns with India's commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 45% by 2030.

GameChange Solar's success in India is attributed to its customer-driven approach and the performance of its Genius Tracker systems. These systems are engineered for high-wind, high-heat environments and combine speed, structural durability, and precision tracking to maximize output and reduce project timelines. GameChange Solar has secured over 10 GW of solar projects across India using its Genius Tracker system, with significant installations in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The company's increased local manufacturing capacity ensures faster deliveries and stronger alignment with project timelines. This expansion also allows GameChange Solar to serve both global markets and a portion of the domestic demand. GameChange Solar is already exporting quite a bit to the U.S. from India, even with the 50% tariffs, demonstrating India's impressive manufacturing capability.

GameChange Solar's total projects in India, commissioned as well as under installation, have exceeded 13 GW. The company booked orders for 7 GW of systems in FY 2025 alone, with nearly 2 GW of tracker orders signed in Q4 FY 25.

The expansion into transformers was a direct response to customer needs. Two years ago, the company asked its customers what they needed next, which led to the development and manufacturing of transformers. GameChange Solar believes that this expansion will contribute about 25%-33% to the company's total revenue. While the exact investment amount for the expansion remains undisclosed, the company's Executive Chairman, Andrew Worden, anticipates a substantial revenue boost. GameChange Solar's estimated annual revenue is currently $114.9 million. The company has raised $370 million in total funding.
