Pakistan Cricket Board Grants Extension for Bids Submission for the Two New Pakistan Super League Teams.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an extension to the deadline for submitting bids for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises. The new deadline is now December 22, 2025, a week later than the original date of December 15.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi communicated the decision via his X handle, citing increasing interest from potential investors located in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. He expressed enthusiasm for welcoming the new franchise owners into the PSL family.

The decision to extend the deadline follows a successful investor roadshow held at Lord's Cricket Ground in London. The event garnered "unprecedented attention," with numerous international investors attending and expressing keen interest in acquiring the new franchises. Building on this momentum, the PCB is holding another roadshow in New York. The New York roadshow is scheduled for today and Pakistan team members and Test captain Shan Masood are set to attend. The continued engagement with global investors is in anticipation of the franchise auction scheduled for January 6, 2026. Former captains Ramiz Raja and Wasim Akram attended the London event and are expected to be present at the New York roadshow.

The PSL, which was established in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six in 2018, is preparing for a significant structural change. The addition of two new teams for PSL 11, which is slated to take place next year, will bring the total number of franchises to eight. This expansion marks the league's first major restructuring in seven years.

While not officially announced, the PCB has reportedly set a reserve price of 130 crores PKR (approximately 470,000 USD) for each new team. Questions have emerged in cricket circles regarding the costs of the international roadshows and the rationale behind extending the bidding deadline. There are also inquiries about whether Raja and Akram are providing their services free of charge for these promotional events.
