Tanya Mittal, who gained prominence as the third runner-up on 'Bigg Boss 19', is currently facing criticism after her stylist, Riddhima Sharma, publicly alleged non-payment of dues and unreturned designer outfits. The controversy, which erupted shortly after the show's finale, has put a spotlight on the treatment of stylists in the entertainment industry.
Sharma shared her grievances in a detailed note on Instagram, expressing her frustration and disappointment. She claimed that her team provided numerous expensive sarees and lehengas for Mittal during the week, but neither payments nor acknowledgement were received. Sharma emphasized the distinction between a stylist and a designer, highlighting her responsibility for sourcing every look and outfit for Mittal. She also alleged that the outfits had not been returned.
Sharma described a challenging working relationship with Mittal's team, stating they pressured her with demands such as, "If today's saree doesn't arrive, the payment won't be made". These demands allegedly led to frequent last-minute requests, requiring Sharma to arrange outfits within hours. She also claimed to have covered delivery charges for the outfits, some of which cost as much as Rupees 58,000.
The stylist itemized several unpaid styling jobs, including outfits for Weekend Ka Vaar, the Grand Finale, and other appearances. Sharma asserted that she consistently completed her work promptly, yet payments were allegedly not made. She expressed disappointment, particularly after supporting Mittal through interviews, voting promotions, and public appearances. Sharma also mentioned that when she informed Mittal's team about her inability to source an outfit due to being in another city, she was allegedly told that payment would be withheld if the outfit was not delivered.
Adding to the turmoil, Sharma revealed that she has been facing online trolling from Mittal's fan pages since coming forward with the allegations. She stated that she has been receiving disrespectful comments and name-calling.
In an interview, Sharma disclosed that she has received 50,000 rupees, but payment for three looks remains pending. Additionally, 20 outfits are yet to be returned. Sharma stated her desire to resolve the matter quickly and expressed her intention to avoid future collaborations with Mittal's team. She revealed that the experience was unexpected and that she "needed a reality check".
Mittal, who entered 'Bigg Boss 19' claiming ownership of nearly 800 sarees, has not yet issued an official response to the allegations. The situation has sparked online conversations about the treatment of stylists in the entertainment industry.
