Leading cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is expanding its services in Poland by integrating BLIK, a widely used mobile payment system. This partnership with European payment processor PPRO will allow Polish users to purchase cryptocurrencies on Coinbase using the Polish złoty (PLN) for the first time.

BLIK is Poland's most popular mobile payment method, boasting 20 million active users. The integration will streamline the process of buying and selling crypto for Polish users, enabling them to complete transactions with a few taps on their smartphones.

Come Prost-Boucle, EU Growth Lead at Coinbase, stated that the integration of BLIK is a step forward in Coinbase's efforts to improve onramping services across Europe. Coinbase's mission is to increase economic freedom for over a billion people, and improved onramping is crucial to building a better payment future for users.

Motie Bring, CEO at PPRO, expressed pride in partnering with Coinbase to bring BLIK payments to their users. By facilitating the integration of BLIK into Coinbase's platform, PPRO aims to help Coinbase capitalize on the 51% growth in crypto adoption seen in Poland, ultimately delivering more choice and flexibility to Polish consumers.

Recent research by Chainalysis indicates a 51% growth rate in cryptocurrency adoption in Poland, driven by grassroots adoption and increasing use of remittances. The introduction of BLIK on Coinbase aligns with this trend, providing a solution that caters to the needs of a population increasingly interested in digital currencies.

Coinbase's focus on Europe involves simplifying the buying and selling of crypto. In addition to trading, Coinbase offers staking, custody, spending, and fast, free global transfers.

BLIK launched in Poland in 2015 and has become highly successful. In the first half of 2024, BLIK completed more than 1.1 billion transactions, a 40% increase compared to the same period last year. Formed through a partnership of Poland's six largest banks and Mastercard, BLIK allows users to authorize transactions using a six-digit code.
