Malavika Mohanan is making her Telugu debut alongside Prabhas in the upcoming film The Raja Saab, a horror-comedy set to release on January 9, 2026. Reflecting on her journey to Tollywood, Mohanan revealed that she was initially considered for a role in Prabhas's Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. However, things didn't work out, and Shruti Haasan was eventually cast in the role.

In an interview, Mohanan shared that she received a call from director Prashanth Neel's team regarding Salaar a few months after the release of Master. She met with Neel, and "everything went well," but ultimately, she wasn't cast in the film. Despite her disappointment, Mohanan believes it was destiny that led her to The Raja Saab. "I was meant to make my Telugu debut alongside Prabhas," she stated. "Despite landing two projects and missing out on both, I was finally called for 'The Raja Saab.' So it feels like destiny that my entry into Telugu cinema happens with a Prabhas film".

At the pre-release event for The Raja Saab, Mohanan expressed her joy and respect for Prabhas, calling him "one of the sweetest people" she has worked with. She added, "Prabhas sir, it has been an absolute honor sharing the screen with you and getting to know you as a person... You are one of the sweetest people I have ever worked with. Thank you, truly, thank you for that". Prabhas also praised Mohanan, describing her as "tall, beautiful, with beautiful eyes".

Mohanan has been part of the film industry for several years, working across Tamil, Malayalam, and Bollywood cinema. Initially, she was set to make her Telugu debut opposite Vijay Deverakonda in a film titled "Hero," which was eventually shelved. Now, with The Raja Saab, she is finally realizing her Telugu debut alongside Prabhas.

In The Raja Saab, Mohanan plays the role of Bhairavi, which she describes as quite vibrant. She revealed that she had to perform many cute sequences, funny scenes, some action, and even songs. The film, directed by Maruthi, tells the story of a young man who tries to sell his ancestral property to overcome a financial crisis, only to discover that the house is haunted by his late grandfather. Besides Prabhas and Mohanan, the film features Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, and Samuthirakani in key roles.

Mohanan is excited about the opportunity to showcase different looks in The Raja Saab, including traditional attire, stylish outfits, and musical numbers. She expressed her excitement about working with Prabhas, calling the movie an exciting blend of comedy, romance, and horror. "The Raja Saab is a fun and thrilling production, and working with Prabhas is a dream come true," she remarked.

The Raja Saab is scheduled to be released on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Sankranti.
