Guwahati: Veteran actor Ashish Vidyarthi and his wife, Rupali Barua, were injured in a road accident in Guwahati on Friday night. The incident occurred around midnight near the Guwahati Address Hotel on Zoo Road, within the Geetanagar Police Station's jurisdiction.

According to reports, the couple was crossing the road after having dinner at The Guwahati Address restaurant when a speeding motorcycle struck them. The motorcycle, bearing registration number AS-01-DY-5061, was reportedly traveling at high speed from the Chandmari side.

The impact of the collision resulted in injuries to both Ashish Vidyarthi and Rupali Barua. The motorcyclist also sustained injuries in the accident. Geetanagar Police responded swiftly to the scene and transported the injured motorcyclist to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Vidyarthi and Barua also received immediate medical attention.

While details about the extent of their injuries are still emerging, initial reports suggest that both Vidyarthi and Barua are in stable condition. In a video message, Ashish Vidyarthi reassured his fans and well-wishers, stating that he and Rupali were doing well. He mentioned that Rupali was under medical observation, and he himself sustained minor injuries but was otherwise সুস্থ (healthy).

Ashish Vidyarthi, a National Award-winning actor, is known for his versatile roles in numerous films across various Indian languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. He has appeared in nearly 300 films throughout his career. Besides his acting career, Vidyarthi has gained popularity as a food and travel vlogger. Rupali Barua is a fashion entrepreneur from Guwahati. The couple had married in a private ceremony in Kolkata in May 2023.
