The highly anticipated song "Ghar Kab Aaoge" from the upcoming war film Border 2 was launched on January 2, 2026, at a special event held at the Longewala–Tanot sector in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The event was attended by the film's cast and crew, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and singer Sonu Nigam, along with BSF jawans, Army personnel, and producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta.
Border 2 is a sequel to the 1997 film Border, which was based on the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The sequel, directed by Anurag Singh, aims to capture the same spirit of courage, patriotism, and sacrifice, focusing on untold stories from the 1971 war. The film features Sunny Deol, reprising his role as Lieutenant Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler, alongside a new generation of actors including Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, Diljit Dosanjh as Fg Offr Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, and Ahan Shetty as Lt Cdr M. S. Rawat. The film also stars Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana.
"Ghar Kab Aaoge" is a reimagined version of the iconic song "Sandese Aate Hain" from the original Border. The new track retains the emotional essence of the original while incorporating richer vocals. Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod, who sang the original version, are joined by Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh in the new rendition. The music is recreated by Mithoon, with additional lyrics by Manoj Muntashir.
Speaking at the launch, Sunny Deol reflected on the profound emotions that the song has carried over the years. Varun Dhawan shared that he grew up listening to the song and has always noticed the emotional vulnerability it evokes. Ahan Shetty added that the moment was especially meaningful as his father, Suniel Shetty, starred in the original film and performed to the original song.
The music video of "Ghar Kab Aaoge" features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and others in an evocative visual narrative. It reflects longing and sacrifice, honoring Indian soldiers and exploring themes of belonging and patriotism. The launch event included a live performance at the amphitheater built in front of the Longewala-Tanot Mata Temple, with Sunny Deol, Sonu Nigam, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty appearing on stage.
Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. Border 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026, coinciding with India's Republic Day weekend.
