Jaipur, January 5, 2026 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has leveled serious allegations against three Congress Members of Parliament (MPs) from Rajasthan, accusing them of diverting funds from the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to benefit a constituency in Haryana. The BJP has dubbed this alleged misuse of funds as a "Fraud Party" tactic, claiming that it prioritizes the interests of a political dynasty over the development needs of the people of Rajasthan.
According to Jawahar Singh Bedham, Rajasthan's Minister of State for Home Affairs, the Congress MPs—Sanjana Jatav from Bharatpur, Rahul Kaswan from Churu, and Brijendra Singh Ola from Jhunjhunu—have violated MPLADS guidelines by allocating a significant portion of their funds to the Kaithal assembly constituency in Haryana. This constituency is represented by Aditya Singh Surjewala, the son of senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala.
Bedham stated that each MP is entitled to ₹5 crore annually under the MPLADS, with a provision to spend a maximum of ₹25 lakh outside their constituency, except in cases of disaster where a higher allocation is permissible. However, he alleges that these three MPs have collectively diverted approximately ₹1.20 crore to Kaithal, even as developmental projects in their own constituencies remain incomplete.
Specifically, Bedham claimed that Sanjana Jatav allocated ₹45 lakh, Rahul Kaswan ₹50 lakh, and Brijendra Singh Ola ₹25 lakh for development works in Kaithal. He criticized the MPs for neglecting their constituents in Rajasthan, who elected them to represent their interests, while channeling funds to Haryana.
The BJP's IT cell chief, Amit Malviya, has also weighed in on the controversy, questioning why taxpayers' money from Rajasthan is being used in Haryana, particularly in a constituency linked to a prominent Congress leader's son. Malviya has accused the Congress of prioritizing the interests of a political family over the welfare of the people they represent.
The controversy has ignited a debate about the misuse of public funds, dynasty politics, and the Congress party's development model. Critics argue that the alleged diversion of funds undermines the purpose of the MPLADS, which is intended to address local needs and promote development in the constituencies that the MPs represent.
The allegations have raised questions about accountability and transparency in the allocation of public funds. The BJP has called for a thorough investigation into the matter, demanding that the Congress MPs be held accountable if they are found to have violated MPLADS guidelines. The controversy is likely to escalate in the coming days, with the BJP expected to mount further attacks on the Congress party over the alleged misuse of funds.
