Adivi Sesh on Including Akshay Kumar-Raveena Tandon's "Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast" in His Film "Dacoit".

Adivi Sesh is incorporating the iconic 90s hit song "Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast" into his upcoming film "Dacoit". The song, originally picturized on Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon in the 1994 film "Mohra," holds a special place in Sesh's heart, connecting to his childhood memories.

Sesh, who co-wrote "Dacoit" with director Shaneil Deo, explained that including the song was driven by a desire to evoke a sense of excitement and familiarity. "Some songs stay with you forever, and 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' is one of those songs for me," he stated. He fondly recalls the song being "everywhere" during his childhood and remembers it as part of his first dance performance on a school stage. That memory remains vivid for him.

"Dacoit," a Telugu romantic action thriller, stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. The film is directed by Shaneil Deo and features Anurag Kashyap as the antagonist, along with Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla in supporting roles. The film is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda under the Annapurna Studios banner.

Sesh emphasized that the inclusion of the song is not a gimmick but an emotional connection. "When we were working on the film, I felt an instinctive pull to bring this song in—not as a gimmick, but as a feeling," he said. He secured the rights to the song to ensure the homage was done correctly. "It's a small, personal memory woven into a much larger film," he added. Rajiv Rai, the producer of "Mohra," confirmed that the "Dacoit" team legally acquired the rights to use the song.

The film's teaser includes the song "Kannepettaro Kannu Kottaro" from the Telugu film "Hello Brother," adding to the nostalgic feel. Sesh said these songs are very personal to him because they are the first songs he ever danced to on stage. He said it's the first time he remembers having no stage fear and that dancing to the song made him feel special.

"Dacoit" is scheduled to be released on March 19, 2026, coinciding with Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid celebrations. It will be released in both Telugu and Hindi. The story revolves around a thief, played by Adivi Sesh, who falls in love with Mrunal Thakur's character, but their love is challenged by a determined police officer, portrayed by Anurag Kashyap.
