Aadhaar PVC Card Price Increase in January 2026: Updated Fees and Charges Information You Need

Aadhaar PVC Card Price Increase Takes Effect in January 2026

Effective January 1, 2026, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has increased the price of Aadhaar PVC cards to ₹75. This new rate, up from the previous ₹50, applies to all orders placed through the myAadhaar portal or the mAadhaar mobile app. The revised fee is inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST) and speed post delivery charges.

Reasons for the Price Hike

According to a UIDAI circular, the price adjustment is due to increased costs in materials, printing, secure delivery, and related logistics involved in the production and distribution of Aadhaar PVC cards. The authority stated that the rising operational expenditure made it necessary to review the existing fee structure to maintain high-quality service delivery. The UIDAI introduced the service to order Aadhaar PVC cards in 2020, and this is the first price revision since its inception.

What is an Aadhaar PVC Card?

The Aadhaar PVC card is a durable, credit-card-sized version of the Aadhaar card with enhanced security features. It is more resilient than the traditional paper Aadhaar card and is designed to withstand heat, water, and general wear and tear. The PVC card includes security features such as a tamper-proof QR code, hologram, microtext, and guilloche pattern to protect against counterfeiting. It remains equally valid as the e-Aadhaar and the paper Aadhaar letter.

Hologram Discontinued

Alongside the price increase, UIDAI has also discontinued the hologram on Aadhaar PVC cards produced under the "Order Aadhaar PVC Card" service. While a circular dated October 17, 2025, mentioned this change, it was officially implemented in January 2026. UIDAI continues to emphasize QR-based and digital verification methods for Aadhaar use.

How to Order an Aadhaar PVC Card

To order an Aadhaar PVC card, individuals can visit the UIDAI’s official website or use the mAadhaar mobile application. In the "Get Aadhaar" section, click on "Order Aadhaar PVC Card". You will need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or VID, complete the captcha verification, and authenticate using an OTP received on your registered mobile number. After completing the payment of ₹75, the PVC Aadhaar card will be printed and dispatched to the address registered in the Aadhaar database via Speed Post. UIDAI aims to hand over the printed Aadhaar card to the postal service within five working days of receiving the order.

Delivery Tracking

Individuals can track the delivery status of their Aadhaar PVC card through the India Post website or by scanning the QR code on the dispatch notification.

Other Aadhaar Updates

UIDAI has also been working on updating Aadhaar information online, such as name, address, and mobile number. While online updates were initially free, there are now revised fees for certain changes. For instance, offline Aadhaar Seva Kendras charge ₹125 for photo updates and ₹40 for Aadhaar reprints.
