Kaltounkova's Sole Goal Secures 2-0 Victory for Sirens Over Sceptres in a Shutout Game.

Kristýna Kaltounková's pair of goals propelled the New York Sirens to a 2-0 victory over the Toronto Sceptres on Tuesday in Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) action. Goaltender Kayle Osborne secured a 31-save shutout, further solidifying the Sirens' win.

The win marks the fourth consecutive victory for New York, elevating their record to 6-0-0-5. Conversely, the Sceptres' loss extends their losing streak to three games, leaving them with a 4-0-3-4 record.

Kaltounková's first goal came at 2:50 into the second period, as she skillfully tipped in a point shot from Jincy Roese. Shortly after, Kaltounková had an opportunity to extend the lead with a penalty shot, which was awarded after Ella Shelton was penalized for covering the puck in the crease. However, Kaltounková's shot hit the post. She later sealed the game with an empty-net goal with just 6.5 seconds remaining.

Toronto struggled to generate quality scoring chances throughout the game and couldn't find a way to solve Osborne, even with a late push in the final minute. While both teams exhibited some sloppiness, the Sirens capitalized on their opportunities. Elaine Chuli made 20 saves for Toronto.

With this victory, the Sirens have overtaken the Minnesota Frost for the second spot in the PWHL standings, trailing only the Boston Fleet by a single point.

Daryl Watts entered the game with a five-game point streak (four goals, two assists) and a four-game goal streak.. Watts' point streak is now tied for her career high, while her goal streak was one game short of tying Sarah Fillier's league record of five straight games with a goal from last season.

Looking ahead, the Sirens will return to the Prudential Center to host the Minnesota Frost on January 16. The Sceptres will travel to Boston to face the Fleet on January 14.
