Following the smashing box office success of the psychological thriller The Housemaid, Lionsgate has officially greenlit a sequel, titled The Housemaid's Secret. Production is slated to begin later this year, with an expected release in late 2026 or early 2027.
The original film, based on Freida McFadden's 2022 novel of the same name, has grossed $133 million worldwide since its release on December 19, 2025. This impressive figure, achieved despite premiering alongside major titles, solidified the studio's decision to continue Millie Calloway's story. The Housemaid series, in its entirety, has sold over 12 million copies, demonstrating a clear audience appetite for the thrilling narrative.
Sydney Sweeney is set to reprise her role as Millie Calloway, the resourceful and resilient housemaid. Michele Morrone is also expected to return as Enzo Accardi. While Amanda Seyfried, who played Nina Winchester in the first film, will likely not have a substantial role, she has teased the possibility of a cameo appearance.
Paul Feig, who directed The Housemaid, is expected to return to helm the sequel. Rebecca Sonnenshine, the screenwriter behind the first film's screenplay, will also return to adapt The Housemaid's Secret for the screen.
