Darren Fletcher Reveals Ferguson Advice Before Manchester United Caretaker Role: A Decision-Making Process.

Darren Fletcher has been appointed as the caretaker manager of Manchester United following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim on Monday. Amorim's sacking followed a turbulent 14-month period at Old Trafford, which ended with his criticism of the club's management.

Fletcher, a former United midfielder and current under-18s coach, has stepped in to lead the team on an interim basis. His first match in charge will be Wednesday's Premier League game against Burnley. Fletcher's appointment marks the sixth time United have appointed a caretaker manager since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.

Fletcher revealed that he sought the advice of former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson before accepting the interim role. He stated, "I don't like to make any major decisions or things without speaking to Sir Alex, and that's something I've done since I've been at the club and since I've left the club in everything I do". Fletcher added that Ferguson was the first person to phone him and that he wanted to get his blessing out of respect. Ferguson supported his decision, echoing Fletcher's belief that it is their job to do the best for Manchester United.

Fletcher admitted that leading Manchester United was beyond his "wildest dreams". He said it was an amazing honor and something he is really proud to do. Fletcher's focus is currently on the Burnley match, and further discussions about his role will take place after the game.

Fletcher hopes to welcome back Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount into the squad. He also added Travis Binnion, Alan Wright and former centre-back Jonny Evans to his coaching staff.

According to reports, former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and ex-Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick are potential contenders to take over from Fletcher until the end of the season.
