Man City and Pep Guardiola Eye Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi: Transfer Nears Completion, Sources Say

Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of signing Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, with the deal in its "final stages". The England international is expected to complete a medical in the northwest of England soon.

The transfer fee is reported to be around £20 million. Guehi's contract with Crystal Palace was set to expire at the end of the season, making him an attractive target for several top clubs.

City manager Pep Guardiola has been looking to bolster his defensive options after recent injuries to key players such as Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol. This left the team with only Abdukodir Khusanov and Nathan Aké as senior center-backs.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner acknowledged the high possibility of the transfer, stating that the deal is in its final stages and that Guehi would not participate in the team's match against Sunderland. He praised Guehi's commitment to Crystal Palace and wished him well for the future.

Besides Manchester City, other clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool had also shown interest in Guehi. Bayern Munich and Barcelona were also reportedly keen on signing him on a free transfer at the end of the season. However, City have moved quickly to secure his services during the January transfer window.

Guehi will become City's second signing of the January window, following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
