Boerse Stuttgart Group has launched Seturion, a new pan-European, blockchain-based platform designed for the settlement of tokenized assets. The platform aims to provide faster and more cost-efficient settlement of tokenized assets across national borders. Seturion is designed to unify Europe's fragmented post-trade landscape.

Seturion is accessible to various market participants in Europe, including banks, brokers, traditional and digital trading venues, and tokenization platforms. The platform's open architecture and modular design facilitate straightforward integration. It supports settlement in central bank money or tokenized on-chain cash. The platform supports transactions across all asset classes.

The unique modular settlement solution supports tokenized assets on public and private blockchains. Boerse Stuttgart Group's European trading venues will connect to Seturion as initial clients. Other partners are expected to follow. All trading venues across Europe can connect to Seturion, enabling the trading of tokenized assets without needing their own DLT license. Banks and brokers can continue using their existing connections to trading venues.

Seturion is already in use by BX Digital, the FINMA-regulated DLT trading facility in Switzerland. In 2024, the solution was tested during the European Central Bank's blockchain trials with leading European banks. The platform is described as the first real pan-European industry solution, removing cross-border barriers and unifying the fragmented settlement landscape. Boerse Stuttgart says Seturion will make the settlement of transactions within any asset class significantly faster and more cost-efficient. According to the group, Seturion can reduce settlement costs by up to 90%.

Dr. Lidia Kurt has been named CEO of Seturion, and Lucas Bruggeman, Boerse Stuttgart’s Chief Digital Assets Officer, is designated Chairman of the Board. A license application under the EU's DLT Pilot Regime has been submitted to BaFin, Germany's financial regulator. Boerse Stuttgart has applied for a trading and settlement system license (DLT TSS).

Dr. Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Group, stated that Seturion is the first digital pan-European settlement platform for tokenized assets. He added that with a truly open architecture, they want to overcome current national settlement infrastructure silos and turn a unified European capital market into reality.
