Reba Monica John has voiced her disappointment with her role in the recently released Rajinikanth starrer, Coolie. The actress, known for her work in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films, revealed her feelings during an online interaction with fans.

Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, hit theaters on August 14, 2025, and features Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film received mixed reviews, though it achieved commercial success. Reba Monica John played Revathi Rajasekar, the younger sister of Shruti Haasan's character. Her role involved being rescued by Rajinikanth in a key scene.

"I am really upset and disappointed," Reba Monica John stated, acknowledging that she felt she could have contributed more to the film. "I know I could have offered so much more, but sometimes things don't go your way. Still, I am happy that I got the chance to work with Thalaivar Rajinikanth".

Despite her disappointment, Reba expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Rajinikanth. In an earlier interview with Rednool, she had expressed her long-held desire to work with Rajinikanth and be a part of Lokesh Kanagaraj's film, stating that she didn't consider the scope of the role when the opportunity arose. She secured the role through networking, even though it was a minor one. She had mentioned that working with Rajinikanth was on her bucket list. She also recalled a moment when Rajinikanth complimented her performance after a shot, which she described as an extraordinary feeling.

However, after the film's release, fans pointed out that there weren't as many scenes as she had claimed. As a result, Rajinikanth fans and Lokesh Kanagaraj fans are trolling her, claiming that the upset comments she has shared now contradict old interviews.

Reba's recent statement has sparked discussions among fans, with some expressing support and others criticizing her for the perceived contradiction between her current feelings and previous statements. Some fans are trolling her for the perceived discrepancy.

The film Coolie has faced criticism regarding the screen time and development of several characters. Besides Reba Monica John's role, the roles of Upendra, Aamir Khan (in a guest appearance), and Nagarjuna were also perceived as minimal or lacking clarity.
