Air India and Zomato have launched a partnership, integrating Air India's Maharaja Club loyalty program with Zomato's food delivery platform. Effective immediately, this collaboration allows users to earn loyalty rewards on food orders while unlocking exclusive travel perks.
Earning Maharaja Points on Zomato
Zomato users can earn 2% Maharaja Points on all food orders exceeding ₹499 placed on the platform. New members who enroll in the Maharaja Club through the Zomato app will receive a welcome bonus of 2,000 Maharaja Points after completing their first Air India flight.
To start claiming Air India Maharaja Points on Zomato orders, users can open the Zomato app, go to their profile, and look for the "Partner Rewards / Air India – Maharaja Club" tile. They can then choose to link their accounts by entering their Maharaja Club (Flying Returns) membership ID and verifying it with an OTP. Linking is a one-time step, and subsequent eligible orders should automatically accrue points. Maharaja Points from Zomato orders will be credited to the Maharaja account shortly after delivery.
Free Flight Ticket Opportunity
In addition to earning points, one lucky member will win a complimentary one-way Economy Class ticket voucher daily, which is valid for booking and travel within six months.
Statements from Air India and Zomato
Sunil Suresh, Head of Marketing, Loyalty & E-commerce at Air India, said the partnership strengthens the value proposition of the Maharaja Club. He stated that it brings together travel and food, aligning with their vision of building one of the most rewarding loyalty programs across industries.
Rahul Gupta, VP at Zomato, added that customers can now earn Air India Maharaja points when they order food on Zomato, making the product more rewarding and enabling travel.
Strategic Alignment
The partnership aligns with Air India's transformation plan under the Vihaan.AI initiative, which includes expanding its fleet and modernizing services. The Air India-Zomato loyalty program offers a way for customers to earn rewards and the chance to win free flights. This collaboration creates an opportunity for users to get more out of their everyday purchases.
Comparison with Other Programs
IndiGo's BluChip–Swiggy arrangement earns a fixed number of BluChips per INR 100 spent, which is roughly a 0.5% earn rate. Air India's Zomato deal offers a 2% earn rate, but only kicks in above ₹499. The Swiggy-IndiGo combination accrues points on InstaMart, while BlinkIt is excluded from the Zomato arrangement.
