BIGHIT Music to Pursue Legal Recourse Against Malicious Activities Directed Towards BTS Members: Protecting Their Artists.

BIGHIT MUSIC, the agency behind the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, has announced that it is taking strong legal action against individuals responsible for malicious online activities targeting the group's members and those suspected of attempting to break into their homes. The agency made the announcement on September 29, 2025, through Weverse, a social media platform popular among K-pop fans, reiterating its commitment to protecting the rights and privacy of its artists.

According to BIGHIT MUSIC, the legal proceedings were initiated after the company's monitoring of online spaces, both domestic and international, and based on information and tips provided by fans. The platforms under review include South Korean sites like Naver, Daum, Nate, TheQoo, and DC Inside galleries, as well as music streaming platforms such as Melon, Bugs Music, and Genie Music. The agency also tracked activity on international social media platforms, including X, Instagram, and YouTube.

BIGHIT MUSIC emphasized that even anonymous online posts are not exempt from legal consequences. Acts such as defamation, slander, spreading false rumors, and using abusive language are subject to criminal punishment under laws like the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The agency has a "zero-tolerance" policy and is committed to using all available legal channels to protect BTS.

The agency stated that some complaints filed last year have already been forwarded to the prosecution with recommendations for indictment. Investigations into cases reported this year are ongoing, and suspects are being summoned for questioning, sometimes through warrants.

In addition to online harassment, BIGHIT MUSIC addressed recent attempted break-ins at BTS members' homes. The agency is actively cooperating with authorities to investigate these incidents, providing evidence and submitting formal reports. Some of these cases have been forwarded to prosecutors.

BIGHIT MUSIC also reminded the public that any act of visiting or loitering at an artist's private residence, observing an artist's residence from the outside, leaking an artist's personal information, or any other actions that infringe upon the artist's privacy are subject to criminal punishment under laws concerning trespassing and stalking. Such actions cause serious anxiety and distress to the victims.

This isn't the first time BIGHIT MUSIC has taken legal action against malicious online activity targeting BTS. In March 2025, the agency confirmed that several individuals behind malicious posts had been identified, with some fined and others facing ongoing investigations and trials. In June 2024, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that a YouTuber, Taldeok Camp, who posted damaging content against BTS, was ruled liable for 76 million KRW in damages. The agency is actively responding to Taldeok Camp's appeal to ensure accountability.

BIGHIT MUSIC's proactive measures highlight the increasing concern over online harassment and privacy violations faced by K-pop artists. The agency's commitment to protecting its artists and pursuing legal action against perpetrators sends a strong message against malicious online behavior.
