In response to the current situation in the Kashmir Valley, authorities have established control rooms across all 10 districts of Kashmir. This move aims to ensure effective coordination, real-time monitoring, and prompt public assistance. The establishment of these control rooms follows missile strikes by India on nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
A Joint Control Room has been set up at the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) within the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex in Srinagar, under the supervision of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). This control room will operate 24/7 as a central platform for interdepartmental coordination, monitoring ongoing developments, and addressing public grievances. Citizens can contact the Joint Control Room using the provided helpline numbers.
Similar 24/7 control rooms have been established in other districts, including Jammu, Sopore, and Baramulla. In Baramulla, the Deputy Commissioner's office has also set up a Shadow Control Room at the DC Office, staffed by officials from various departments to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and response.
The district magistrate stated that the control rooms will operate round-the-clock and serve as a centralized hub to facilitate interdepartmental coordination, monitor ongoing developments, and ensure timely dissemination of information. The control rooms will also act as a grievance redressal platform for the general public, enabling efficient resolution of issues in real-time. The public can contact these rooms to address concerns, coordinate emergency services, and receive support.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have urged the public to report any rumors or malicious content to the Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu. The administration has appealed to citizens to rely on official sources for updates and avoid spreading unverified information that could worsen the situation. The Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has been placed on high alert, with a dedicated 24/7 control room to manage medical emergencies.
The establishment of these control rooms is a precautionary measure amidst ongoing border tensions. The government has also restricted employee leave to exceptional circumstances, ensuring administrative readiness during this period of heightened alert.
