Ajith Kumar, the Tamil superstar, has officially confirmed that filming for his next project, tentatively titled AK64, is scheduled to commence in November 2025. This announcement follows the success of his recent film, "Good Bad Ugly," and addresses fan speculation regarding his commitment to both his acting and racing careers.
In a recent interview, Ajith shared his plans to balance his passion for acting with his racing career. He stated that he aims to squeeze in filming between November and February, when the European racing season is on a break. "Our racing season in Europe starts in March and ends in October, but for that one-off race that happens in Dubai in January,” Ajith said. “If I can squeeze in a film between the November to February period, I will then have a film release every year, and I can also focus on my racing program".
This schedule would allow him to release a film every year while still dedicating time to his racing endeavors. Ajith has expressed his intention to maintain this balance for at least the next six years, focusing on his racing career as both a team owner and driver.
While specific details about AK64, such as the director, cast, and crew, remain under wraps, Ajith has indicated that the film is expected to be released around April or May 2026. This timeline suggests that AK64 might be a "quickie project," with shooting completed in a relatively short period.
There has been speculation that AK64 might reunite Ajith with director Adhik Ravichandran, music composer G.V. Prakash, and production house Mythri Movie Makers, the team behind "Good Bad Ugly". However, there are also rumors that director Karthik Subbaraj, known for his fast-paced filmmaking, might helm the project. Some reports had earlier suggested a reunion with director Siva, with whom Ajith has delivered hits like "Veeram," "Vedalam," "Vivegam," and "Viswasam".
Ajith has acknowledged the support he receives from producers and filmmakers who understand and accommodate his goals. He recognized that he is fortunate to work with collaborators who support his vision, especially as he celebrates his 33rd year in the film industry.
Ajith Kumar was recently honored with the Padma Bhushan award. He dedicated the honor to his wife, Shalini, and expressed gratitude to his fans and filmmakers.
"Good Bad Ugly," Ajith's recent film, has been a commercial success, grossing ₹200 crores worldwide. The action drama, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, features an ensemble cast and is currently available on Netflix.
