Jim Irsay, the owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts, has passed away at the age of 65. The Colts organization announced his death on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, expressing their condolences to his family, including his daughters Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, Kalen Jackson, and his ex-wife, Meg Coyle.
Irsay's personal life, including his marriage to Meg Coyle and his relationship with his daughters, has been a subject of public interest. Jim and Meg were married in 1980 and divorced in May 2014, after being separated since 2003. Together, they had three daughters: Carlie, Casey, and Kalen, all of whom hold significant positions within the Colts organization as vice chairs/owners, representing the next generation of leadership.
Meg Coyle Irsay, born in 1960, is originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois. She is the sixth of eight children born to Ruth and Ed Coyle. Meg's background is diverse, having attended Illinois Institute of Technology, Northern Illinois University, and Southern Methodist University. Beyond her connection to the Colts, Meg is an author, having published "Messages to Me: Words Collected on the Road to Silence," a collection of poems combined with photographic images expressing movement. She has also been involved in movement and somatic therapies, teaching and practicing rhythmic movement in the fitness industry, and studying the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®.
Carlie Irsay-Gordon, the eldest daughter, has been a prominent figure within the Colts organization for many years. Born circa 1981, she has been a top executive since 2008 and currently holds the title of Vice Chair/Owner. Carlie's journey with the Colts began in the ticket office, followed by roles in the marketing department. She has represented the team at NFL Owners Meetings since 2004. During her father's absence in 2014, when he entered a rehabilitation facility, Carlie stepped in to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Colts. She is also involved in various NFL committees, including the Media Owned and Operated Committee and the Security and Fan Conduct Committee. Carlie is married to Zach Gordon and resides in Indianapolis with their three children.
Casey Foyt, another of Jim Irsay's daughters, is also a Vice Chair/Owner of the Colts. After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in sports marketing, Casey worked for the NFL in London, England, planning the first regular-season NFL game played outside North America in 2007. Since joining the Colts in 2007, she has focused on marketing and community relations, revitalizing the Indianapolis Colts Women's Organization. Casey resides in Carmel, Indiana, with her husband, Anthony J. Foyt, IV, and their five children.
Kalen Jackson, the youngest of the three daughters, is also a Vice Chair/Owner of the Colts. Like her sisters, she grew up with the Colts organization as a significant part of her life. Kalen is involved in various aspects of the organization, with a particular focus on coordinating the Irsay family's community and philanthropic efforts. She leads "Kicking the Stigma," the family's initiative to raise awareness about mental health disorders. Kalen also serves on the national board of Project Healthy Minds and the board of the United Way of Central Indiana. She is married to Boyd Jackson and resides in Indianapolis with their two daughters.
Jim Irsay's health had been a concern in recent years. He had a history of addiction and had been found unresponsive in December 2023, with a suspected opioid overdose. The Colts later revealed that he was battling a severe respiratory illness. In the past, Irsay openly discussed his struggles with drugs and alcohol and had been to rehab multiple times. Despite his health challenges, Irsay remained committed to the Colts and the Indianapolis community.
