India to Reddy: Prepare for Increased Bowling Demands in England Series, High Workload Expected.

India's cricket team is gearing up for a challenging five-Test series in England, and bowling coach Morne Morkel has a specific task in mind for young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy: be prepared for a heavier bowling workload. With experienced campaigner Mohammed Shami sidelined due to fitness concerns and the team management planning to strategically manage Jasprit Bumrah's workload throughout the series, Reddy's contributions with the ball become crucial.

Morkel has directly challenged Reddy to increase his bowling responsibilities, aiming to turn him into a more consistent and reliable option in the seam attack. While acknowledging Reddy's ability to produce "magical" deliveries, Morkel emphasizes the importance of developing consistency to complement his batting prowess. He wants to see the ball in Reddy's hands more often, recognizing the value of having additional bowling options, especially in English conditions.

Reddy is currently vying with Shardul Thakur for the seam-bowling all-rounder position in the playing XI. Reddy had the opportunity to bowl 26.5 overs in two 'Tests' against England Lions. Morkel has expressed confidence in the overall balance of the squad, but he also stresses the need for the bowling unit to find its rhythm and intensity ahead of the Test matches.

The decision between selecting Reddy or Thakur for the crucial Leeds Test remains unconfirmed, with Morkel diplomatically stating that the team is happy with the balance it has. However, he also highlights the importance of regaining Test match fitness and sharpness, given the extended break from Test cricket and the unique challenges presented by English conditions.

India's bowling attack relies heavily on Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who are considered automatic selections when fit. However, with Bumrah likely to play only three of the five Tests to manage his workload, the remaining spots are up for grabs. Besides Reddy and Thakur, other seamers in the squad include Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna, all eager to make an impact.

The upcoming Test series will be a stern test for the Indian bowlers, facing an England side known for its aggressive and fearless batting approach. Morkel acknowledges the need for the Indian bowlers to be at the top of their game from the outset. He seems pleased with the team's preparedness, emphasizing the importance of adapting to the English conditions and executing their plans effectively.

Nitish Kumar Reddy's journey so far has been promising. After being fast-tracked into the Test side, he showcased his potential with a Test century against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, his bowling has been an area for improvement, and this England tour presents a golden opportunity for him to step up and solidify his place in the team as a genuine all-rounder.
