Sonakshi Sinha is currently in the spotlight as her upcoming film, "Nikita Roy," prepares to clash at the box office with Kajol's "Maa" on June 27th. Sinha has expressed her excitement about the simultaneous release of two female-led films, viewing it as a positive step for the industry. She welcomes the box office competition, emphasizing that there is "room for everyone" and wishing the "Maa" team well. Sinha also lauded Kajol as an amazing actress and someone she admires, adding that she enjoyed the trailer for "Maa" and looks forward to watching the film.
"Nikita Roy," directed by Sonakshi’s brother Kussh S. Sinha, is a psychological thriller where she plays an investigator who debunks supernatural claims but faces a case that challenges her beliefs. Sinha has highlighted her commitment to portraying strong female characters, a conscious decision she has made for the past several years in films like "Akira," "Dahaad," and "Heeramandi." She stated that she wants to be the hero of her films and enjoys shouldering a film and playing title roles.
In addition to the buzz surrounding "Nikita Roy," Sonakshi Sinha has addressed her absence from the upcoming sequel to the 2012 film "Son of Sardaar." While reports indicate that Mrunal Thakur will be replacing her in "Son of Sardaar 2," Sinha said she isn’t upset about not being cast. She explained that she hasn't had a conversation with the makers but assumes they have a valid reason for the decision, perhaps related to changes in the story or character. Sinha added that if her character had been replaced, she would be worried but does not believe that is the case and wishes the team all the best.
Notably, Sanjay Dutt was initially slated to appear in "Son of Sardaar 2," but was later dropped from the cast after his UK visa application was rejected, due to his prior incarceration. Ravi Kishan replaced him.
Sonakshi is also making her Telugu debut with "Jatadhara" and anticipates "Heeramandi" season two.
