The Redmi 15 5G is set to launch in India on August 19, 2025, and is generating considerable buzz due to its impressive specifications and features. The launch event will be live-streamed on Redmi's official YouTube channel, with updates on their social media platforms.
One of the phone's major highlights is its massive 7,000mAh battery. This battery utilizes silicon-carbon technology, which allows for a higher energy density in a compact form factor. Redmi claims that the battery will retain 80% health even after four years of use. The battery also supports 18W reverse charging, allowing users to charge other devices. The company has provided estimates of usage time on a full charge, including 55.6 hours of Spotify streaming, 23.5 hours of YouTube video playback, and 17.5 hours of Instagram Reels. Additionally, a 1% hibernation mode is said to provide 13.5 hours of standby time. Some sources say the phone supports 33W charging support.
The Redmi 15 5G will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. The phone is expected to come with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It will run on Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, with a commitment to two years of OS updates and four years of security updates. The device may also include AI features, such as Google's Circle to Search.
The phone is expected to feature a large 6.9-inch FHD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The display is also said to have a 288Hz touch sampling rate and Wet Touch Technology 2.0 for improved usability in wet conditions. It has received certifications for low blue light, flicker-free operation, and circadian-friendly viewing from TUV Rheinland.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Redmi 15 5G is rumored to have a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. For selfies and video calls, it may feature an 8MP front camera. The camera software is expected to include features like AI Erase, AI Sky, and film-style filters.
The Redmi 15 5G is expected to be available in Midnight Black, Frost White, and Sandy Purple. Despite the large battery, Redmi claims the phone will be the slimmest in its category. The design includes a glass-like back panel and a camera island made with aerospace-grade metal. The device is also expected to have an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance and Dolby-certified audio.
While the official Indian pricing hasn't been revealed, a listing on Redmi's Malaysian website suggests a price of around Rs. 15,000 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Some sources estimate the base variant to be around Rs 17,999. The phone is expected to be available for purchase within a week of its launch.
