The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. An orange alert has been issued for these districts, signaling that authorities should be prepared to take action.
The weather forecast for Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai indicates consistent rainfall activity with varying intensity. While the intensity may decrease slightly over the next few days with moderate rain expected, there is a forecast of a rise in intensity again, with heavy rainfall at isolated places predicted.
An orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in the Konkan region, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few or isolated places. The red alert indicates "take action," and the orange alert "be prepared to take action" for authorities.
Mumbai and other nearby cities have been experiencing massive waterlogging in low-lying areas, along with traffic jams and disruption of suburban train and metro rail services, due to the heavy rains that have been pounding Maharashtra. Mumbai received an average rainfall of 95 mm in 24 hours. Incessant rains lashed Mumbai, inundating low-lying areas. Konkan and other parts of Maharashtra have been receiving heavy rains, resulting in deaths and injuries due to rain-related incidents.
The IMD issued a red alert, predicting extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Raigad and ghat areas of Pune and Satara districts. The weather department sounded a 'yellow' alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy showers at isolated places, and an 'orange' alert for neighboring Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts, which are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Citizens are advised to remain alert due to the possibility of heavy showers. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are set to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, with rainfall gradually shifting to isolated heavy showers.
