In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, a man identified as Ram Khilawan allegedly bit off his wife's nose after finding her at her lover's house on Wednesday evening. The 25-year-old woman, Pooja, sustained critical injuries and was initially rushed to a local hospital in Hardoi before being transferred to a medical college in Lucknow for specialized treatment due to the severity of her injuries. The incident occurred under the Hariyawan police limits.
According to police reports, Ram Khilawan followed his wife, Pooja, after overhearing her phone conversation, to the house of her lover, who resided in the same village. A heated argument erupted between the couple at the lover's residence. In a fit of rage during the confrontation, Ram Khilawan allegedly assaulted Pooja and bit off her nose, leaving her bleeding profusely.
Hearing Pooja's screams, local residents and family members of the lover rushed to the scene. They were horrified to find her in a severely injured state and immediately alerted the police. Officers from the Hariyawan police station arrived promptly and took the woman to Hardoi Medical College. However, due to the critical nature of her injuries, doctors referred her to a hospital in Lucknow for advanced medical care.
Authorities have detained Ram Khilawan and are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. Additional Superintendent of Police Narendra Kumar stated that legal proceedings are underway and that the case is being investigated from all possible angles. Pooja's complaint has led to the registration of a formal case against Ram Khilawan.
In a separate and unrelated incident from earlier this year, a man in West Bengal's Nadia district bit off his wife's nose for a disturbingly different reason: he found it "too attractive." The attack happened around 3 AM on May 2, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. Locals rushed to help after hearing the screams of the victim, Madhu Khatun, who emerged from her house bleeding profusely.
