Milwaukee Brewers emerged victorious against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 4-2 score, largely due to an exceptional performance by rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who outdueled the Pirates' star pitcher Paul Skenes. The game, held at American Family Field on Wednesday, saw Misiorowski continue his early dominance, while Skenes had a shorter outing than usual.

Misiorowski pitched five shutout innings, allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. His fastball was particularly impressive, reaching 100 mph or more 19 times during the game and averaging 99.5 mph. According to Sportradar, the combined fastball velocity between Misiorowski and Skenes represented the highest combined fastball velocity by two starting pitchers in the same game since at least 2009. His peak velocity hit a career-best of 102.4 mph. This performance lowered Misiorowski's ERA to a tiny 1.13, with a total of 19 strikeouts across 16 major league innings.

Skenes, on the other hand, lasted only four innings, matching the second-shortest outing of his career. He allowed four runs on four hits and two walks, while also striking out four. All four runs came in the second inning. This performance raised Skenes' ERA from 1.91 to 2.03.

The Brewers' offense capitalized on Skenes' struggles in the second inning, scoring all four of their runs. Isaac Collins started the inning with a walk after a long at-bat, followed by a single from Brice Turang and a soft hit into right field by Caleb Durbin. Joey Ortiz then grounded out, bringing in the first run. Eric Haase followed with an RBI double to shallow center, putting the Brewers ahead 2-0. After the lineup flipped, Sal Frelick hit a grounder to second baseman Nick Gonzales, whose errant throw home allowed another run to score. Christian Yelich capped off the inning with an RBI single.

The Pirates managed to get on the board in the seventh inning with an RBI single by Tommy Pham. Spencer Horwitz added a two-out RBI double in the eighth, cutting the Brewers' lead in half. However, Trevor Megill closed out the game for his 18th save of the season, securing the 4-2 victory for Milwaukee.

With this win, the Brewers improved their record to 45-36. They are set to face the Colorado Rockies in a three-game series at American Family Field starting on June 27. The Pirates, now 32-50, will look to rebound in their upcoming games.
