Day 3 of the second Test between India and England at Edgbaston was marked by a contentious Decision Review System (DRS) incident involving Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, which led to a heated exchange between England captain Ben Stokes and the umpires.

The incident occurred during India's second innings when Jaiswal was given out LBW off the bowling of Josh Tongue. Umpire Sharfuddoula raised his finger to signal the out. Jaiswal immediately went to his partner, KL Rahul, to discuss whether to review the decision. After a prolonged discussion, Jaiswal signaled for the review, but seemingly after the 15-second timer had expired.

Stokes immediately contested the review, arguing that the allotted time had run out before Jaiswal signaled. He approached umpire Sharfuddoula and engaged in a heated discussion, with Rahul also intervening to clarify the situation. The Edgbaston crowd reacted to the drama with loud boos. Despite Stokes's اعتراضات, the umpires decided to proceed with the review.

The replays showed the ball hitting the leg stump, confirming the on-field umpire's decision. Jaiswal was out after scoring 28 runs off 22 balls.

This isn't the only time Jaiswal and Stokes have had words during this test match. On Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, Jaiswal and Stokes exchanged some heated words during India's batting. The incident started when Stokes said something to Jaiswal while the Indian batter was completing a run. Jaiswal responded by saying, “You don't want to hear from me, come on”. Stokes eventually got Jaiswal out in the 46th over.

The DRS controversy added another layer of drama to an already eventful day of Test cricket. Earlier in the day, England had been bowled out for 407, with Mohammed Siraj taking 6 wickets for 70 runs. India ended the day at 64 for 1, with a lead of 244 runs.
