Shubman Gill, the young captain of the Indian Test team, is currently making waves in the ongoing Test series against England, and has put himself on the verge of breaking some long-standing records. The 25-year-old right-handed batsman is not only leading his team but also setting new benchmarks with his performance. Gill's form has sparked comparisons to Virat Kohli, with fans and experts noting similarities in their aggressive batting styles and leadership qualities.

One of the most significant records Gill is approaching is Don Bradman's record for the most runs by a captain in a Test series. Bradman scored 810 runs in the 1936-37 Ashes series, a record that has stood for 88 years. Gill, after two Tests in the current series, has already amassed 585 runs. He needs just 225 more runs in the remaining three matches to surpass Bradman's record.

Gill is also within striking distance of another Bradman record: the most runs by any player in a Test series. Bradman made 974 runs in the 1930 Ashes series. Gill needs 390 runs to break that record.

In the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Gill became the first player in 148 years of Test cricket to score a double century and a 150+ score in the same match. He recorded a colossal innings of 269, which is the highest score by an Indian captain in Tests, surpassing Virat Kohli's previous record of 254 not out. His aggregate of 430 runs in the Edgbaston Test is the second-highest by any batter in a single Test match, only behind Graham Gooch's 456 against India in 1990.

Gill has also broken Sunil Gavaskar's 49-year-old record to become the youngest Indian captain to win a Test match overseas. Gill led his team to a record-breaking 336-run win against England in the second Test at Edgbaston. At 25 years and 301 days, Gill surpassed Gavaskar's record set in 1976.

Virat Kohli, who recently retired from Test cricket, holds numerous records of his own. Kohli has scored 9,230 runs in 123 Test matches. He also holds the record for being the highest double centurion in Test cricket, with seven double hundreds. Kohli led India to 40 victories in 68 Tests, making him the country's most successful Test skipper.

Shubman Gill has already had a remarkable career. In ODIs, he is the fastest player to reach 2000 runs in 38 innings and 2500 runs in 50 innings. He also holds the record for the youngest cricketer to score a double century in ODI. Gill captains the Test team, vice-captains the ODI side, and has captained the T20I team. In his IPL career, Gill has played 118 matches and scored 3,866 runs, with an average of 39.45.

With the form that Shubman Gill is in, the cricket world will be watching to see if he can continue his record-breaking run.
