England's stand-in captain, Tammy Beaumont, has openly acknowledged that her team is yet to produce a complete performance against a formidable Indian side in their recent T20I series. This admission came after England suffered a six-wicket defeat to India at Old Trafford, resulting in them losing the five-match series with one game still to play.

The English side struggled to post a competitive total, managing just 126 for seven. None of the batters could establish themselves, with Sophia Dunkley being the top scorer with a modest 22. In contrast, India's opening pair, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, set a blistering pace, scoring 50 runs in their first five overs, effectively sealing England's fate.

Beaumont, who is leading the team in the absence of the injured Nat Sciver-Brunt, expressed contrasting emotions following the loss, especially after their narrow five-run victory at The Oval, which had briefly kept the series alive. She credited India for their exceptional performance throughout the series, stating that they had truly tested England. She also admitted that England's performance that night was far from complete.

Beaumont felt that the team was about 20 runs short with the bat, suggesting that a score of 150 might have given their bowling attack a fighting chance. However, she conceded that defending a low score becomes exceedingly difficult when the opposition is aware that they can play freely and stay ahead of the game.

Despite the challenging situation, Beaumont praised her team for their resilience, noting that they managed to pick up a few wickets and made every effort to get back into the game. However, she acknowledged that they simply did not have enough runs on the board to mount a serious challenge.

Looking ahead, Beaumont emphasized that the team is determined to use the final match at Edgbaston to shift the momentum before the ODI series begins in Southampton. Although the series has already been decided, she asserted that the team's desire to perform well remains undiminished.

Beaumont also highlighted that England is currently a team in transition. While acknowledging the absence of key players, she pointed out the significant potential within the team.

Previously, India won the first game at Trent Bridge by 97 runs before logging a 24-run win at Bristol in the second match. However, England bounced back in the third T20I, winning by five runs. Despite the loss in the fourth match, India still hold a 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
