Joe Jonas is opening up about co-parenting with his ex-wife, Sophie Turner, after their divorce was finalized in September 2024. The Jonas Brothers singer is praising Turner as an "incredible mom" to their two daughters, Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2.
Jonas addressed his co-parenting relationship with Turner during a recent appearance on Jay Shetty's "On Purpose Live Tour". He expressed gratitude for their "beautiful co-parenting relationship," stating that "Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true". He emphasized the importance of his daughters having strong female role models, saying, "My little ones have some incredible women to look up to, including their mom". He also wants his daughters to "be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confidence, and know that they can do literally anything they want".
The divorce between Jonas and Turner was initiated in September 2023, following four years of marriage. While the initial announcement appeared amicable, a custody battle ensued over their daughters. Turner sued Jonas, requesting the return of their children to England, claiming they had previously agreed that England would be their "forever home". Jonas, however, disputed these claims.
Eventually, Jonas and Turner reached a temporary custody agreement through mediation in October 2023, which allowed their daughters to spend equal time in both the United States and the United Kingdom. In January 2024, Turner dropped the "wrongful retention" claims against Jonas, and a judge approved the dismissal after their parenting agreement was approved in the U.K.. A source revealed that the former couple turned their "messy custody battle" around and are now "friendly and great co-parents," focusing on what is best for their daughters.
Turner has also shown support for Jonas, sharing a link to his new solo album, "Music for People Who Believe in Love," which was released on May 23 and is considered his "most personal" work yet. The album reportedly explores themes of love, growth, and self-reflection in the wake of their breakup. Jonas stated that songwriting served as an outlet during a transformative time in his life. "I was going through a lot of life changes, finding out who I was as a person, and as a father and friend, all while living under the microscope of what the music industry can be," he said.
Despite the initial rocky period following their separation, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner appear to have established a positive co-parenting relationship, prioritizing their daughters' well-being and development.
