Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa are expecting their first child, marking a new and exciting chapter in their enduring love story. The couple shared the joyful news on July 9, 2025, through a joint social media post on Instagram, featuring a charming illustration of a baby cradle entwined with floral motifs and the words "Baby on the way". Rajkummar captioned the post with "Elated," adding two heart emoticons.
The announcement quickly went viral, with an outpouring of congratulatory messages from friends, fans, and members of the film fraternity. Celebrities like Farah Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Varun Dhawan, Pulkit Samrat, Esha Gupta, Bhumi Pednekar, Manushi Chhillar, and Dia Mirza, among others, rushed to send heartwarming wishes to the parents-to-be in the comments section. Farah Khan humorously expressed, "Finally the news is out!! I was having a tough time keeping it to myself... congratulations".
In an interview with Hindustan Times on July 10, 2025, Rajkummar shared his excitement about becoming a father soon. "We are absolutely thrilled, to be honest. We feel like a lot of our friends who are parents have been telling us that this is going to be the best phase of your life. So, we are looking forward to it. And, it's still sinking in," he said. Rajkummar added, "Every day is a new day. We have known each other for 15 years. We have grown up together. So, we are still sometimes like, 'what, actually, this is happening. We're going to be parents'. That being said, it is a beautiful feeling". He also mentioned that they often check with each other to confirm if it's really happening.
Giving insight into their pregnancy journey, Rajkummar revealed that he and Patralekhaa took their first trip with the "upcoming member of our family" to New Zealand sometime back. He said, "Apart from just being us, it was our first trip with the upcoming member of our family. And that is what makes it really special. We have travelled so much in the past, but for the first time, it was more about an internal travel for us. Like just being there with each other".
Rajkummar and Patralekhaa's love story began when they met on the sets of CityLights in 2014. They dated for over a decade before tying the knot in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh on November 15, 2021. Their wedding photos, particularly the one where Rajkummar went down on one knee in front of Patralekhaa, captured the internet's heart.
On the work front, Rajkummar is gearing up for the release of Maalik, a crime drama thriller co-starring Manushi Chhillar, scheduled for release on July 11, 2025. Patralekhaa was last seen in Ananth Mahadevan's biographical drama Phule.
