Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has urged the public and media to avoid premature conclusions regarding the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, emphasizing the importance of awaiting the final report from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The minister's statement follows the release of preliminary findings from the AAIB regarding the incident that occurred on June 12.
Naidu stressed that the recently released probe report contains only preliminary findings. He said that one should not jump to conclusions until the final report is released. He acknowledged the commendable work of the probe team and assured that the ministry is coordinating with the AAIB to provide any necessary support. The minister expressed hope that the final report would be available soon, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the events leading to the crash.
The Air India incident involved a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, operating as flight AI 171 en route to London Gatwick. The aircraft crashed into a medical hostel complex shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, resulting in a tragic loss of life. Initial reports indicate 260 fatalities, including 241 passengers. One passenger survived the crash.
The minister underscored the government's commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the investigation process. He stated that the ministry is ensuring transparency and accountability in the probe. Under the norms of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the AAIB is expected to submit a preliminary report within 30 days of the accident.
Naidu also expressed his confidence in the expertise and capabilities of the nation's pilots. "I truly believe we have the most wonderful workforce in terms of pilots," he stated, emphasizing his faith in their abilities.
The AAIB is currently working on the investigation. The investigation is the responsibility of AAIB, according to Naidu. The ministry is allowing them to do their job.
